Important Vocabulary:

 

Brian Gawlik:  Good friend of Mr. Muench’s. Used to teach Cinematography at BBA. When he died he got the Gawlik Awards named after him, and the Gawlik room.

 

Gawlik Room:  A room that is connected to the Cinematography room, where the green screen and a lot of props are. A lot of films get filmed in their, named after Brian Gawlik.

 

Canon Vixia:  Handheld camera we first learned to use. Used for Plushie videos

 

Clip:  Individual scene of video or movie

 

Editing:  Changing a film, including cutting, shortening, speeding up, slowing down, adding music/sound effect, etc.

 

Event (in FCPX):  Events separate projects and seperate videos, so that all of your film insint in one spot, but can easily be found for the video you are using to create with it.

 

Final Cut Pro X (FCPX):  A app on the macs’ that we use to edit our videos or films we are creating, very expensive and we are very lucky to have.

 

“Fix it in Post”:  When you create a mistake but choose not to re-shoot it.

 

Initializing SD Card in Canon Vixia:  Clearing the SD card so that when you take it with a camera, only what you film is on it.

 

Jonathan Levin:  Man close to the BBA/Manchester community who was kidnapped and tortured and killed by his students for money. Money was generously donated to our program

 

Library (in FCPX):  Holds all of our events and projects, individually per person. (in Final Cut Pro)

 

“Lock it down / or lock it up”:  Director will call so everyone on set stops what they are doing so they can film a scene without interruption or background noise, etc.

 

BBA News Room:  Old room with 2 computers that played lived news.

 

Pre-production:  Arrangements made before shooting a film, such as storyboard.

 

Post-production:  The things done after shooting film, such as editing.

 

Project (in FCPX):  A separate video or movie made in Final Cut Pro

 

Scene:  A sequence of continuous action.

 

 

Timeline:  A line that depicts events in the order and time they will happen.
